St. Jerome's Regional Catholic Youth Organization is currently accepting registrations for the winter sports program, which includes basketball and cheerleading. The program is open to children attending St. Jerome's Regional School or its Religious Education Program.

Janene Holter from the Office of the Attorney General will present a program on the growing problem of prescription drug abuse affecting teenagers. The program will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m., in the Tamaqua Area School District Auditorium. Designed to benefit parents and teen students, the presentation features "the story of a young man whose dependence on prescription drugs led him down an unexpected path of destruction."
The public is welcome to attend. There is no admission fee.
