A New Ringgold man, charged with four counts of arson and related offenses, was arraigned Monday before District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon at the Schuylkill County courthouse and entered a not guilty plea to all charges and requested a jury trial. Eleven other area people were among a total of 69 who were arraigned and all also pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges filed against them and requested a trial.

Todd Deem II, 21, of 105 Dorset Road, New Ringgold, charged by West Penn Township Chief Brian J. Johnson, with four counts of arson endangerng persons and property, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of criminal mischief by endangering property by dangerous means, and one count each of agricultural trespassing on posted lands and criminal mischief to property.

Information filed to court states while investigatng three arson fires in Setember 2009 in a wooded area off of Blue Mountain Drive near railroad bed about one acre of land was burned causing $300 in damages. On Dec. 12 and 14 , 2010, at 114 Dorset Drive, New Rnggold, a two story vacant home was damaged by arson fire causing $140,000 in damages; on April 9, 2011 at 1 Fort Franklin Road, New Ringgold, an arson fire damaged an old red barn causing $1,000 in damages; and on April 19, 2011 , Corporal Shawn Hilbert and Trooper David Klitch interviewed Deem at the Lehighton state police barracks, which led to Deem's arrest.

Steven Leonard Gaffney, 28, of 9 Tunnel St., Apt. 8, Lansford, charged by Rush Township Patrolman Corey Herring, with criminal conspiracy, retail theft of a television from Walmart Store, Hometown, and receiving stolen property last June 30. Gaffney was also charged by Patrolman Ryan Rehatchek, with retail theft of a television and gas trimming machine from Walmart Store, last July 1.

Steven Scott Gall, 47, of 51 Lumber Lane, New Ringgold, charged by Rush Sgt. Duane Frederick, with disorderly conduct by enganging in fighting in the parking area of the Walmart Store, Hometown, last July 31, after receiving a ticket for parking in a fire line and scattering rubbish.

Stephen Barrett, 40, of 1024 E, Pine St,, Mahanoy City, charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell, with aggravated and simple assault on Brian Correll at Hang Loose Bar, 300 E. Broad St., last June 26, disorderly conduct by engaging in fighting, and harassment.

April Lynn Miller, 34, of 4 Cherry St., Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Chief Dave Mattson, with retail theft of merchandise valued at $17 from Family Dollar Store, 137 N. Railroad St., last July 10.

Tony Nicole Braun, 21, of 214 Pine St., Apt. 2, Tamaqua, charged by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods, with retail theft from Family Dollar Store last July 11 merchandise valued at $5.

Kasara Brandy Shields, 20, of 104 Spring Garden St., Lansford, charged by Coaldale Patrolman Scott Cramer, last May 19 with possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped in100 block on W. Water St.

Barry E. Markle, 41, of 623 W. Michael Dale Reed, 28, Harrisburg, charged by Shenandoah Lt. Garfy Keppel, with retail theft from Redner's Warehouse Market of three items of merchandise. He has two other retail theft convictions according to his police record.
