ºMembers of the TIMES NEWS editorial and sports departments gathered at the Roadies Restaurant at Penn's Peak on Wednesday for a farewell luncheon in honor of journalist Jim Zbick, retiring after a 40-year career with this newspaper. Zbick, who joined the TIMES NEWS staff in October, 1972, has traditionally worn many hats in the newsroom, serving as author of a popular weekly history column, writing daily editorials, plus serving as national news editor in management of the daily AP news wire, paginating the national news page and an occasional state news page, along with editing local news copy. Zbick is well known for his stories and features on local and military history. His plans include spending time pursuing interests in U.S. and military history by visiting historical sites and museums. Zbick grew up on his family's farm in Jackson Township, Luzerne County. He will continue to contribute editorially to the TIMES NEWS.
