The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement program has released the following information from a sobriety checkpoint held May 25 in Minersville. The checkpoint was a joint effort between local officers and state police.
A total of 484 vehicles were contacted with 101 detained. Eight motorists were tested, resulting in five adult and one juvenile DUI arrests. There were also five motorists charged with underage drinking. Officers also issued 39 traffic citations, four seat belt citations, made one criminal arrest and issued 50 warnings.
Sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols will also be conducted through June 4 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54. Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunk driver.
