Kidder crash injures two

At least two females were injured Wednesday night when involved in a crash along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes about 9 p.m. on a bridge at mile marker 283 just east of the SR115 exit. It was reported the two females were heavily trapped in the wreckage. Two medical transport helicopters were requested at the scene but due to the harsh weather conditions the victims were transported by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. The roadway was closed to traffic for a time, then one lane was opened. Traffic was backed up for miles. Responding were Lehighton paramedics, Lake Harmony ambulance and Lake Harmony Fire Company. State police at Fern Ridge, who are investigating the incident, did not have the names of any of those involved as of this morning. Troopers said the driver was from New Jersey. They added that the driver attempted to avoid an animal and swerved her Mitsubishi Murano and struck the guard rail and then rolled over onto its roof.
