Twenty-three Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members represented Lehighton Area High School at the 61st annual Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of American State Leadership Conference held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, on April 16, 17 and 18.
Nearly 280 chapters were present with an approximate attendance of 3,800 people.
Lehighton had three students place in the top 10 for their individual events.
Zach Coleman placed first in Accounting I, and qualified to compete at the national level in San Antonio, Texas, in June. Stacey Kerschner placed third in Ms. Future Business Leader and Haley Sawyer placed 10th in Word Processing II.
Several other students competed with others throughout the state in both individual and team events. They were: Steven Anthony, Technology Concepts; Jesse Bieber, Sports Management; Krysten Breiner, Nick Mantz, and Peter Salerno, Global Business; Colton Davison, Computer Problem Solving; Sarah Drumheller, Personal Finance; Chris Fairchild, Accounting II; Hannah Gilbert, Introduction to Business Communication; Keturah Hinkle, Business Law; Sarah Kistler, Public Speaking II; Ciera Kobal, CyberSecurity; Nate Kresge, Hospitality Management; Joe Oriel, Business Procedures; Michael Perez, Technology Concepts; Michelle Pomposello, Introduction to Business; Brittany Redmond, Accounting I; Krista Rehrig, Accounting II; Alyssa Schleicher, Business Communication; and Sabrina Strausberger, Word Processing I.
Accompanying the members were FBLA advisors, Kim Mychaliszyn-Simko and Matthew Fisher.
During the conference, members attended general business sessions and workshops.
The keynote address was delivered by bestselling author, motivational speaker, and Paralympics ski racer, Josh Sundquist.
Future Business Leaders of America is a national vocational student organization for business education students. The 100 members in the Lehighton Area High School chapter are a part of the Pennsylvania membership.
