The mass of artwork that graced the auditorium at St. John Neumann Regional School was a real sight to behold.

Students from both the Palmerton and Slatington campuses had their art work exhibited at the school's Palmerton campus as part of its annual Art Show Tuesday.

In addition, representatives from Chrysler brand and Rentschler Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Dealership joined with parents and teachers for a Drive for the Kids fundraiser in support of the school.

Instructor Paula Zelienka said the more projects the students work with enhances their abilities as artists.

"They get to work with lots of variety and lots of mediums," Zelienka said. "The people could not believe how well the students are doing in their art work."

Kaelin Beck, an eighth-grade student at the school's Palmerton campus, said she worked with watercolors.

"It's really fun, and you're here with your friends," Kaelin said. "And, you can give them as presents or gifts."

Fellow eighth-grader Julia Kinney said there was a specific reason behind one of her works.

"I chose the woods because I painted these for my parents, who always wanted to live in the woods," Julia said. "It's good because I got more experience painting rocks and things."

Eighth-grader Riley Zelienka said most of the work she had on display at the art show was in her portfolio.

"It's a whole lot of fun for everybody," Riley said. "It's really nice."

Debby Shea, of Palmerton, attended the function on behalf of her grandchildren.

"It's wonderful," Shea said. "All of the children are talented, and the car drive was a lot of fun."

Throughout the event, Rentschler Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Dealership provided minivans and volunteers to answer questions and help out with the fundraising test drives.

Parents and guests who took a brief test drive in the company's award-winning minivan, the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country, earned a $10 contribution for the school.

In 1993, Chrysler introduced Drive for the Kids, and became the first automotive manufacturer to directly support schools in the communities where the company does business.
