A driver fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle and crashed in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred about 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, along Airport Road in Barry Township.

Troopers said Joseph J. Motley, 47, of Ashland, was driving a 1998 Subaru Outback westbound and approaching the intersection with Taylorsville Road, when he fell asleep. The car went off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole at the intersection, where it came to rest.Motley was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Motley for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
