The Carbon County Senior Games has helped keep area seniors young at heart for the last 23 years.

Each year, nearly 200 men and women from five county senior centers come out to throw, shoot, swim, dance, and putt their way into the winner's circle.

One week of competition has been completed and the Southern Carbon County seniors, comprised of the 10-time defending champs, Lehighton; and Palmerton, are still in the lead with a combined score of 427. But, don't count out the Northern Carbon County seniors, made up of Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly. They are making this year's games a close race with a combined score of 383.

Next week's competition includes, Monday: the Philip Steigerwalt Memorial Walk, softball throw, horseshoes, and bocci; Tuesday: bowling and ping pong; and Wednesday: Bingo, pinochle and rummy, and dancing the polka, slow dance and jitterbug.
