Do family bonds transcend time? Is there a special connection that bridges generations? H.T.O. Services LLC, Lansford, will answer those questions and offer a great night or afternoon out to celebrate spring, Mother's Day and the students of H.T.O. Services with a short play, preceded by several musical numbers.

Performances on Saturday and Sunday will take place at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 W. Hazard St., Summit Hill.

This event is entitled "Live, Love, and Lyrics," and is the first annual spring production of H.T.O. Services. The performance will give the students and the community a chance to see what H.T.O. Services is up to and also builds on the cooperative relationship between H.T.O. Services and The Heritage Center.

"Rachel and Ruthie" reveals a powerful and touching nature of the relationship between a granddaughter and her grandmother. An unexpected juxtaposition in time is used to convey a story that is heart-warming yet funny, and surreal yet grounded. This short musical is comprised of a beautiful duet.

When Ruthie wanders into Rachel's room at her sorority house, it seems at first to be a random meeting. Soon, however, it becomes apparent that Ruthie may have wandered farther than she originally thought.

"Rachel and Ruthie" is the poignant story of two 21-year-olds in their last year of college who discover they have much more in common than they originally thought. Each girl has something to gain from their encounter, and the experience will prove incredibly rewarding for both.

This 20-minute production will be accompanied by preshow entertainment. Local students, friends and supporters of H.T.O. Services will be singing in both a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon dinner/show combo. On Saturday, doors open at 6 p.m. Musical entertainment begins at 6:30 and the short play will be performed at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, doors open at 1 p.m. with musical entertainment at 1:30 p.m. and the play performed at 2 p.m.

The cast of "Rachel and Ruthie" features Katie Evans as Rachel, Alissa Muffley as Ruthie, Sara Martz as Sarah and Amber Guzman as the punk rocker. Michele Stoudt will be the accompanist.

Preshow entertainment will be provided by Brittani Doyen, Marissa Miller, Jim Cimms, Lauren Serbel, Jonathan M. Rodgers and Jake Tokosh.
