Motorists in Ryan Township can now enjoy a trouble free ride on Tuscarora Mountain Drive/Catawissa Street due to the completion of a project to replace the structurally deficient Tuscarora Mountain Drive Bridge over Locust Creek. The project, which was scheduled to be completed in September, included a full replacement of the bridge, drainage work, new guiderail, new roadway approaches and other miscellaneous construction. During construction Tuscarora Mountain Drive was closed and detoured between Foothill Street and SR209. Clearwater Construction Inc. of Mercer, was the general contractor on the $709,603 project. The new bridge is 70 feet long and consists of a 31 feet wide concrete box beam bridge. PennDOT pointed out that Tuscarora Mountain Drive has an average daily traffic volume of 863 vehicles.
