Seminar addresses domestic violence

Schuylkill Women in Crisis director Darla Troutman addresses a seminar hosted by the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship held at New Life Assembly of God Church on March 25. The seminar addressed county statistics and religious organizations' ability to recognize and effectively react to incidents of domestic violence. A third presentation addressed child abuse and dating violence. Troutman said that 150 acts of domestic violence were reported in Tamaqua last year. She said the actual instances of domestic violence are probably much higher since, nationally, only one in six acts are ever reported.
