If you're still searching for the perfect prom or wedding dress, stop by Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe on Wednesday, March 28, from 4-7 p.m.

Nearly 400 new and gently used gowns will be available at the annual Blue Ridge Communications Prom and Wedding Dress Sale. Prices for prom dresses start at $10.

Accessories are also available for purchase, including shoes, tiaras, and a limited number of shawls.

"We have a lot of nice dresses this year," said organizer Julianne Farina. "They are in very good condition. We were very happy with the donations this year."

Changing rooms will be available for shoppers to try on dresses. All sales are cash only.

As always, this year's event offers shoppers a chance to buy a new or gently used gown at a terrific price no small consideration, when today's prom dresses can cost over $200, and wedding dresses can cost much more, added Farina.

"Dresses are so expensive today," she said. "You can get a nice dress for a good price, and it benefits a good cause."

Because all of the dresses available have been donated to Blue Ridge, the price of each purchased dress will be donated directly to Dream Come True.

"One hundred percent of what we receive will go right to them," said Farina.

Dream Come True is a nonprofit organization that works to fulfill the dreams of children between the ages of 4 and 17 years old who are seriously, chronically or terminally ill and live in the greater Lehigh Valley.

The Blue Ridge Chapter serves children who live in Carbon County and parts of Schuylkill, Lehigh, and Monroe counties.

Dream Come True has fulfilled more than 1,000 dreams since its founding in 1984, including 55 within Carbon County.

"There are so many children who are seriously or terminally ill. If we can make one child's dream come true, this is all worth it," added Farina.

If you aren't shopping for a prom or wedding dress but want to help the local Dream Come True chapter, you can make a donation by mailing a check to Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter, P.O. Box 344, Palmerton, PA 18071.

Online donations can be made at www.dreamcometrue-brc.org using a credit card.

Cash donations will also be accepted at Penn's Peak during the sale.

"They can also stop in, have a bite to eat at Roadie's, and make a donation that day," she said. "Every penny goes to Dream Come True."
