A driver and passenger were cited during a traffic stop by Mahoning Township police on March 20.

Police stopped a vehicle on SR443 for driving with an expired inspection. As a result of the stop, the driver of the vehicle, Zachiry Kerschner of Lehighton, was cited for driving under suspension, and driving with an expired inspection.

A passenger in the vehicle, Cheyenne Miller, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance-(suboxone), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon-(spring loaded baton).

On March 22, Mahoning Township Police were dispatched for an out of control suicidal Juvenile at the Packer Ridge Academy, 50 Mauch Chunk Street, Lehighton.

On arrival Officers encountered an out of control juvenile.

The juvenile was placed under arrest, and during transport the juvenile kicked out the passenger rear window of the Police Car.

The juvenile was taken to Gnaden Huetten hospital for treatment, and juvenile charges are pending.

BB gun looked

like a hand gun

On March 22, Mahoning Township Police, along with East Penn, Franklin, and Lehighton Police Departments were dispatched to a report of a man with a gun at 443 Auto Sales- Blakeslee Blvd Drive East, Lehighton.

Upon completion of the investigation it was determined that it was a BB gun designed to look like a real handgun.

A charge of harassment was filed against Richard Shoffner of West Hazleton.

Cultivator stolen

in Mahoning Twp.

On March 22, Mahoning Township Police received a report of stolen farm equipment.

A field cultivator valued at $600 was taken between fall 2011, and February 2012 from property on Fritz Road.
