The French and Spanish Honor Societies of Marian High School recently inducted 37 students at a special Mass celebrated in the school gymnasium.

Taking part in the ceremony were the officers of the French Honor Society: Jeanne Cannon, president; John Julian, vice-president; Nicholas Kweder, secretary; and Mary Kate Sherkness, treasurer.

The officers of the Spanish Honor Society are: Timothy Miller, president; Ryan Karnish, vice-president; Nathaniel Keer, secretary; and Samantha Faust, treasurer.

The Most Reverend Bishop John O. Barres, D.D., S.T. D., J.C.L., Bishop of the Allentown Diocese, was celebrant of the Mass. Parts of the Mass were read in French and Spanish, as well as English.

The new members received membership certificates from Sister Bernard Agnes, principal, who praised the students for their achievements. Bishop Barres was also presented a membership certificate as an honorary member of the Marian High School Language Honor Society.

After the ceremony, a continental breakfast reception was enjoyed by the members, their parents and guests in the cafeteria.

The new members of the French Honor Society are sophomores: Rebecca Hartman, Codie Kaszmetski, Brianna Kubishin and Cassidy DeCosmo.

Inducted into the Spanish Honor Society were sophomores: Anthony Agosti, Emily Betterly, Samantha Brown, Ryan Darrough, Christy Digiandomenico, Michael Dino, Andrew Dotter, Emily Fannick, Ashton Galasso, Amanda Greenfield, Mary Grega, Nicholas Hopeck, Kelsey Hurst, Tyler John, Diana Ketusky, Tara Koskulitz, Joseph Letcher, Alexis Makowiec, Nicholas Mayernik, Mary Susan McAndrew, Christine McCord, Michael McHale, Logan Mehalshick, James Ostergaard, Austin Paisley, Samantha Sirsky, Olivia Sposato, Amanda Srinivasan, Arianna Srinivasan, Kyle Stanek, Mackenzie Sugrue, Alyssa Wagner and Monica Wasik.

The moderators of the societies are Maureen Heffelfinger, French Honor Society; and Deborah Coles, Spanish Honor Society.
