Girl Scout Junior Troop 50363 members, West End Service Unit of Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, are working to achieve their Bronze Award with an event named "Scouts Sharing Stories."
The event will be held April 21 in the Pleasant Valley Middle School cafeteria from noon until 3 p.m.
The Girl Scouts plan to host 100 fellow Girl Scouts, along with Cub Scouts in kindergarten through third grade.
Dressed as storybook characters, the Scouts will provide story time, help make bookmarks, and provide snacks and goodie bags for each participant.
"Scouts Sharing Stories" originated so the girls could share their love of reading and their awareness of recycling.
They have been collecting used books for the past five months to donate back to the children in the community. At the most recent sorting meeting, it was estimated that 1,200 books have been collected.
The Bronze Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. The girls have spent up to 20 hours planning and completing this community service project.
In addition, the Scouts are scheduled to help read to students at the Pleasant Valley Reading Fair on May 2.
