Book mark contest
Palmerton Area Library is sponsoring a book mark contest for kids from preschool through grade 6. If your child did not receive an entry form from school, stop in the library to pick one up. Winning entries in three age categories will be printed as bookmarks and distributed at the library for the next year. Winners will also receive prizes from the library. Book mark designs are due in the library by Wednesday, April 11. Winners will be announced on Friday, April 13.
Easter Story time
At 2 p.m., Saturday, March 31, author Robb Taylor will be at the Palmerton Area Library to read his new book, "The Tale of the Easter Bunny," to children in the kids' room. Learn how a little rabbit became a beloved holiday hero and how important it is to be kind to animals. This is a special weekend story time for families who are unable to attend the weekday story times. This program is free and open to the public.
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran, Salem United Church of Christ, Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Salem-St. Paul Lutheran, and St. Matthew's United Church of Christ will combine Lenten services.
This week, March 21, the host church will be Salem-St. Paul, Kresgeville. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope. Wednesday, March 28, the host church will be St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Kunkletown.
The guest preacher will be the Rev. Brian Holben. Soup and sandwiches will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m., followed by Worship service at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.
From 4-6 p.m., Thursday, March 22, a free community meal will be served at St. John's Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. All are invited for a free meal and fellowship.
The Palmerton Camera Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton.
Lenten services continue at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Services will be Wednesdays, March 21 and 28. Soup and sandwich supper is from 6-7 p.m., followed by worship services from 7-7:30 p.m. All are invited.
The Carbon Model Railroad Society will sponsor its Spring Train Meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, at the Palmerton Area High School Gymnasium.
