A week in California gave five young local musicians the opportunity to make some great contacts in the music industry.

A.D.D., were invited to attend the National Association of Music Merchants show in Anaheim, Calif. The NAMM is a trade association that unifies, leads and strengthens the international musical instruments and products industry.The

A.D.D. invitation was made possible by Magdom Music professionals. The plan to distribute CDs and hang out with big name promoters, record producers and performers in the music industry panned out in a big way.They performed in several booths and the end result was that several companies showed interest in them. They were also invited to three VIP after-show concerts.Companies that expressed interest included Aurora Strings, Rockett Drum Works, JamSync Music, Nady Systems, Rapco Horizon Company, Rock-N-Ross GangStar App. and Clayton Custom Picks.Producers who showed interest were Motor Mouth Records and JamSync Music. They were endorsed by Deltone Guitar Strings, Belerose, N.Y.."It was fun to meet and talk to idols I like listen to," Matt Mcgeehan said.Among the musicians they met were Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Andy McKee, David Crosby and Eric Johnson.Drummer Nick McGeehan got to meet Rikki Rockett from Poison and and said he's getting a custom drum set made by Rockett.Tyler Ritter said he got to meet the guitarist from Synyster Gate, his favorite band.Along with the connections the band made at the convention, there is also interest coming from a booking agency in the Virginia Beach, Va. area."John Lesko of IMG Entertainment, a company partially owned by music great Dave Matthews, and the band are working together to put in place a package that would take the band to numerous venues in the Virginia Beach and Norfolk areas in the coming months," said Gene McGeehan, booking agent.McGeehan said that a relative of Mr. Lesko saw the band at a local gig and was impressed enough to put the band's management in touch with him.While the band is young, it has a solid foundation built by talent and combined with a steady mix of practice and perseverance.Dakota McGeehan, who writes the band's original songs, recently wrote a new song, "Permanently."A.D.D. will be playing this Saturday, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., at a free concert at the East Penn Sporting Club, East Penn Township; and on April 24, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Lehighton Area High School to raise funds for Lehighton Area Pool Pals.They were also selected to be the opening band for the American Cancer Society at Penn's Peak at noon on April 14.Gene McGeehan is their booking agent, while Scott Ritter, serves as sound technician.You can visit their website at ADD-Rock.com.
