The winners of the Molly Maguires Division 1, Carbon County Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Irish essay contest at St. Joseph's Regional Academy in Jim Thorpe were announced on Friday. The students wrote about the history of Irish immigrant Annie Moore, who at 15 years old, was the first immigrant to step foot on Ellis Island, when it opened on Jan. 1, 1892.
