Two girls representing Tamaqua Lodge #592 finished first in their respectively age groups at the NE Central District Elks "Hoop Shoot" on Sun. Feb. 12 at Danville High School. Ashley Jones (left) shot 20-for-25 to capture first place in the Girls 8-9 Division and Nicole Leshko was 19-for-25 to win the 12-13 Girls Division. Jones and Leshko advance to the State "Hoop Shoot" contest at State College. Other youngsters representing Tamaqua at the District championships were, Emily Amershek in the Girls 10-11 Dvision; Luke VanBuskirk, Boys 8-9; Gregory Davis, Boys 10-11; and Christopher Miller, Boys 12-13. Amershek finished second in her age group. Tamaqua Hoop Shoot Director, Vaal Kester, joined the local contestants for the competition in Danville.
