Receives master's, certification

Andrea McAloose graduated May 19 from Wilkes University with a master's of science in nursing. Her focus was nursing education. She was offered induction into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing.

McAloose completed her undergraduate studies at Cedar Crest College (CCC) Allentown in 2000. While at CCC, Andrea was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing and graduated cum laude. She is an alumnus of Hazleton Area High School, 1983.While completing her master's degree McAloose successfully accomplished her certification for Professional Achievement in Perioperative Nursing Practice. She has been a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) since 2005. She also holds certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.McAloose began employment as a perioperative nurse in 2001. Her perioperative career commenced at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. While employed at LVH she had the privilege of organizing the first two successful trips of Operation Straight Spine in Kolkata India in 2007 and 2008, with Dr. Jeffrey Mc Connell, Allentown. She was also requested to present nursing considerations for spinal surgery while at the 2007 spinal conference in Kolkata, India.McAloose is currently employed per-diem at The Center for Advanced Surgery, Hazleton, and St. Luke's Miners Memorial, Coaldale. In addition, she holds employment as a nursing instructor for Penn State Hazleton in the licensed practical nursing program since 2011.She is the daughter of Robert L. and Annabelle McAloose. She resides in Still Creek with her son Matthew.
