State police at Lehighton reported the result of a sobriety checkpoint operation conducted between June 8-9, on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.

The checkpoint resulted in three motorists being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Also, eight motorists were given field sobriety tests and released after passing them, and 46 were issued citations.

One of the DUI arrests was found to be in possession of marijuana.
