Registration is underway for the Norm Thornburg Youth Conservation Camp for youngsters between the ages of 13-15 at the Schuylkill County Fairground, Summit Station, Thursday-Saturday, June 14-16. Sponsored by the Schuylkill County Sportsmen's Association in with the Schuylkill Conservation District, the camp focus on outdoors- and conservation-related activities, and the activities conclude with a banquet Saturday evening.

Valley Gun and Country Club, Elysburg, is the site of the Pennsylvania State Shooting Association annual seven-day event, Monday-Sunday, June 11-17. Prior to the state shoot, the Colonial Classic will be Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10.
Several thousand shooters from the United States and several foreign countries will participate in at least one of the events during the nine days. According to PSSA shoot manger Chuck Fritzges, approximately 2,000 shooters participated in this event last year.

There will be a Family Fishing Program by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Sunday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the program shelter at Locust Lake State Park. Designed for families with little or no fishing experience, the program teaches basic fishing skills with an opportunity to practice those skills while fishing together during the program. In addition to Family Fishing, there are specialized programs for family ice fishing, family fly-fishing and a SMART angler program for youth between the ages of 8-12.
Sunday's edition of "Experience The Outdoors," hosted by award-winning Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association member Doyle Dietz, at 7 a.m. on 1410 WLSH and 9:30 a.m. on Magic 105.5, will feature Wayne County, New York, outdoors recreation coordinator Chris Kenyon.
Capital City Bassmasters of Harrisburg has moved this year's ninth annual Leukemia/Lymphoma Society Bass Classic to Shikellamy State Park, Sunbury. According to tournament chairman Bob Herman, the Saturday, July 14, event is expected to draw a full field of 100 boats because the area of the Susquehanna River is deeper than in Harrisburg, which will allow for the entry of fibreglass bass boats, as well at jet-drive boats.
Fishing will begin at safe light and the weigh-in is 2 p.m. Application forms can be downloaded from the club website at capitalcitybass.com, and information is available by calling Herman at 717-938-8752.
Bear's Head 3-D course is open daily through Friday, Oct. 12, from dawn to dusk, located on club grounds located off I-81 exit 134, 148 Lofty Road, Delano. For information, call the association at 570-467-0331.
A series of basic kayaking courses will be at Tuscarora State Park and prepaid registration is required. All equipment is provided, 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult and there is a maximum weight limit of 275 pounds.
