State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes probed by troopers on Schuylkill County roads.
A one vehicle crash occurred about 6:09 p.m. on Friday, July 20, along SR501 (Bethel Road), in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Heather L. McMillin, 24, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound and attempting to negotiate a left curve. When the Jeep entered the curve it started to fish tail and swerved into the southbound lane. The Jeep then swerved back to the northbound lane and then struck the guard rail on the north shoulder.
After impact with the guard rail the Jeep turned onto its roof, riding the guard rail for about 35 feet before rolling down an embankment about 60 feet into a wooded area, where it came to rest.
McMillin was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC)-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. She was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
Troopers probed another crash on Friday, about 8:46 p.m., at the intersection of SR443 (Deturksville Road) and Meadow View Road, in Washington Township. Troopers said Ina P. Warner, 63, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2009 Ford Fusion, was stopped on Meadow View Road when he pulled out attempting to travel south on 443. As he pulled out his vehicle was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram truck operated by Jeffrey N. Deangelo, 25, of Auburn, who was eastbound.
Warner was injured and taken to SMC-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville. Deangelo was not injured.
Troopers cited Warner for stop signs and yield signs.
Troopers reported on a one vehicle crash that occurred about 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, along SR501 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Donald McHugh, 67, no address given, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck northbound and down a hill when he struck a deer that had entered the roadway in front of him. After impact with the deer the truck went onto the berm and struck several large rocks damaging the undercarriage and front.
McHugh was not injured but the truck had to be towed from the scene.
Another crash occurred on Saturday, about 6:15 p.m., along Middlecreek Road, in Frailey Township. Troopers said Justine M. Leitzel, 43, of Tower City, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban westbound. Troopers said Leitzel's flip-flop shoe became stuck on the floor while she was driving. She attempted to free her shoe when she mistakenly pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake causing her to lose control.
The vehicle went onto the berm and struck a tree. Leitzel was not injured but damages were termed substantial to the Suburban.
