Regina Young, 51, no address given, is facing several charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, following an incident at 5:30 p.m. July 19 along Route 209 in Polk Township.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said she was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina southbound on the road when she attempted to pass four or five vehicles that were also traveling southbound. Police said as Young attempted to travel back into the southbound lane, her vehicle's driver's side mirror struck the driver's side of a 1998 Honda CRV that was driven northbound by Samuel Landherr Jr., 55, no address given.
Police said both drivers stopped their vehicles but after a short period of time, Young fled the scene southbound on Rt. 209. She was later located, taken into custody and charged with DUI and failure to exchange information involving an accident.
Police said neither driver was hurt. Damages to both vehicles were termed minor.
