Lehighton Area Pool Pals adds red and white striped umbrella

Lehighton Area Pool Pals thanked Horsehead Community Fund committee for their donation of $2,000 toward the cost of an umbrella pavilion that not only brightens up the kiddie pool area, but provides some much needed shelter for children and respite for parents on hot days.

Diane Hoffman, member of the LAPP's committee said that Pool Pals also put $1,849 toward the cost of the 20-foot diameter umbrella.Representing Horsehead Community Fund were Bernie Shea, board member; Bill Smelas, executive consultant; Robert Kuba, secretary/treasurer; and Ann Campton, president of the HCF.Lehighton Area Pool Pals inspired and helped raise funds to have the Lehighton pool renovated and attendance at the pool this week has been constant and much appreciated by the local residents as temperatures are in the high 80s this week.To make the summer fun for area families, Lehighton Area Pool Pals is sponsoring a Beach Bash Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 21, at the Lehighton Swimming Pool.There will be music by DJ Kay Phillips from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be water races, kid games, dancing, gold fish scramble, swim races, penny scramble, family swim and a sweat shirt relay or just listening to the music. Food will be available for purchase. There will also be an opportunity to play in a four man team volleyball tournament.For additional information on the tournament, hours or costs, call Diane Hoffman at (610) 377-5275.Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lehighton Swimming Pool.Donations will be accepted at Lehighton Area Pool Pals, P.O.
