Water death Boy, 9, drowns

A 9-year-old Albrights-ville boy was found floating face down in a pool in the Indian Mountain Lakes development in Carbon County on Saturday afternoon and later died at a Lehigh Valley area hospital.

State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred about 5:29 p.m. at the community pool in the development located in Penn Forest Township. Nothing suspicious surrounds the death, troopers said, and the incident appears to be accidental. The boy, Devin Taylor, of 363 Mountain Road, was observed by a nearby adult swimmer as being face down in the water. The individual pulled the boy from the water and summoned lifeguards. CPR was administered at the scene by the lifeguards but they were unable to revive him.The boy was then flown by PennStar helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where medical personnel attempted to revive him but could not.He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival.Troopers said Taylor was swimming with a group of friends and family members and swimming in the large pool. Two lifeguards were also on duty.Interviews at the scene indicated that the pool was extremely busy with many individuals swimming. None of the interviews conducted at the scene indicated that the victim was in any apparent distress prior to being removed from the pool, troopers said.An autopsy is scheduled.
