Crash details released

One woman was injured in a two-vehicle rear-end crash that happened at 4:19 p. m. Wednesday in the westbound lane of SR443 in front of Route 443 Auto Sales.

Tammy Iacoviello, 46, of Mantzville Road, Andreas, was driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander and was stopped with her left turn signal on, intending to turn into the a parking lot across the street from 443 Auto Sales when her vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven Tammy Silfies, 28, of Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, driving a 2002 Subaru Impreza westbound.Silfies told the investigating officer that she did not realize a car had stopped in front of her and was unable to stop. There was glare from the sun at the time of the accident and this is being considered as a partial cause of the crash.The Subaru driven by Silfies sustained major disabling damage. Silfies sustained major injury to a leg and was flown to St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill.Traffic was detoured for about 30-45 minutes.Silfies is being cited by the investigating officer for careless driving. Police were assisted at the scene by Lehighton EMS, Mahoning Valley EMS, Mahoning Valley Fire Department and Fire Police.
