The Schuylkill County Zoning Office reported in 2011 it issued 143 permits and the Zoning Hearing Board issued seven permits which were denied by the zoning office bringing the total permits issued to 250 and the total fees collected was $59,172.

The applications were received for various construction projects as follows:

Residential: New homes, 28, estimated construction cost, $3,392,233; additions to homes, 49, $677,762; accessory structures, 105, $1,291,078; pools, 11, $317,500; windmills, one, $14,300; solar, one, $44,255; and home occupation, seven, $10,000; total, $5,737,128.

Commercial: New construction, one, $385,000; commercial use, eight, $178,000; additions, five, $113,190; accessory structures, 10, $609,850; solar, two, $4,018,828; sign, one, $25,000; total, $5,304,868.

Agricultural: new construction, one, $178,647; additions, $11,200; accessory structures, $2,155,700; total, $2,345,547. Grand Total, $13,387.543.

Permits issued

Only 10 permits were issued during the month of December paying $2,235 in fees and estimated construction cost at $1,400,845. Permits were issued to the following:

John M. Martin, Frackville, garage, $3,000; Robert and Cynthia Carnathan, Porter Township, addition to existing deck, $825; Susan L. Alspach, Auburn, beauty shop in home, no estimation; Eric T. Wolfe, Washington Township, dairy barn, palor and manure storage structure, $1,300,000; Ronald Hepler Jr., Pine Grove, construction of exterior stairs to third floor, $24,820; Raymond N. Bender, Porter Township, garage, $28,100; Patrick M. Sonoski, Tremont Township, garden shed, $1,100; Charles E. and Kathleen Yerges Jr., Porter Township, pole building; and Charles and Mary Ann Bann, Girardville, garage, $15,000.
