BLUE MOUNTAIN Nine TIMES NEWS area wrestlers won their quaterfinal matchups to advance to the semifinal round at the Schuylkill League wrestling championships on Friday evening.

The semifinals, consolations and championships, originally scheduled for Saturday, will now take place Sunday at Blue Mountain High School. The semis begin at 1 p.m. while the finals are scheduled for 6 p.m.Tamaqua's Colin Mashack (23-1) and Panther Valley's Len Ogozalek (21-5) highlight the area contingency moving on. Mashack, who had wrestled at 113 pounds this season, dropped to 106 and easily defeated Pine Grove's Daniel Diaz. Ogozalek, meanwhile, gained a hard-fought 3-2 decision over Coy Campbell of Upper Dauphin, also at 106.Their victories now pit them against each other with a berth to the finals on the line.Four other Blue Raiders, two more Panthers and a Jim Thorpe wrestler also advanced to the semifinals.The only other weight class where two area grapplers won in the quarterfinals was 285. Tamaqua's Luke Matsago and Thorpe's Ryan Ruberto both gained pins to reach the semis. Unlike Mashack and Ogozalek, Matsago and Ruberto will not be facing each other in the semifinals.Four of the remaining five TN also advanced by registering pins.The Raiders' Dylan Rynkiwicz took down Williams Valley's Coty Carr at 132, while Evan Mashack (145) and Brandan Silkowski (160) both gained falls over Upper Dauphin opponents.Stephen Snyder and Richard Nase kept their hopes for a gold medal alive with quarterfinal wins.
