At the Carbon County Animal Shelter in Nesquehoning, they named her Annie because they don't know her real name.

She's really an "orphan annie."

She was brought to the shelter after being found at Boat Lauch B of Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Summit Hill.

Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos said two individuals came across Annie. She needed medical attention for an eye and mouth problem, and had other health problems. Fittos said the dog appeared "sickly." It was treated by a veterinarian at the Animal Shelter.

The dog was found at about 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18.

The two people who found the dog said they saw a car leaving when they got to the lake, but don't know if the vehicle has a connection.

Fittos said he is hoping to find out who abandoned this dog.

"We would like the public's assistance in finding the owner," he said.

Anyone with information should contact Summit Hill police at 570-645-7429.
