Thorpe man cited after confrontations

A Jim Thorpe man was cited following an incident in the borough.

Borough police said about 10:36 p.m. on Dec. 30 they observed a 1997 Volkswagen Golf sedan parked in the police department's parking lot. Through a further investigation police learned the vehicle was left there by Rodney Rider, 30, of 924 Center St. While speaking with Rider at his residence about the vehicle he became confrontational and argumentative.Police informed Rider that they were going to tow the vehicle and left his residence.Upon returning to the police station parking lot Rider followed and again began to argue with officers.Police ordered Rider several times to leave. Police allege that Rider then threatened an officer with physical violence before leaving.Police said after having the vehicle moved they were informed by the county communications center that Rider had called 911 and reported being assaulted by police.Rider was later charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and abandonment of vehicles, police said.
