Thorpe Lions honor students, present awards and donations

Two Students of the Month were honored by The Jim Thorpe Lions Club at their recent meeting at Bear Appetite Restaurant on Broadway in downtown Jim Thorpe.

The Jim Thorpe High School students honored during the meeting were Elizabeth Erney as the October Student of the Month and Victoria Rios as the December Student of the Month.The agenda also included the induction of a new member and the distribution of donations to several local charity and non-profit organizations. Present at the meeting were Lions Club visitors District Governor Scott Dudley and Past District Governor Edward Dudley.New member Kathy Schwartz was inducted into the Jim Thorpe Lions Club by District Governor Dudley.The Lions Club donations included $250 to both the Ebenezer and St. Joseph Food Pantries; $100 to both the Diligent and Fairview Fire Company Children's Christmas Parties; $100 to the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots Program; $100 to the Josiah White School; and $200 to the Jim Thorpe Policeman's Ball.
