Tombstones were legitimately placed

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks, who reported last week they were investigating the finding of 13 tombstones at a site in East Norweigan Township, said the matter has been resolved in that the stones, discovered on Dec. 28, were placed on the property with permission of the owner.

Police said they learned the tombstones were unearthed near Mill Hall in Clinton County by a construction company. The firm, after having done work in the Pottsville area, had permission to dump on Reading Anthracite property where the tombstones were found, police said.Police said it had been determined the stones were made with errors of some kind and were to be discarded.Police said no criminal activity took place in the dumping.
