Wet winter fun

Freezing temperatures outside didn't stop over 100 local children and family members from having wet winter fun during the Tamaqua Class of 2014's first open swim fundraiser Friday night at the Tamaqua Area School District natatorium. Diane Pangonis Butkus, event organizer, stated her appreciation to all who came and the Tamaqua lifeguards that volunteered their time. Their next swim is set for Friday March 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information on how to help, contact Butkus via Facebook. The Class is also looking into helping defray the cost of the broken diving board, which has been broken since last year.Enjoying the water are Olivia Eckert, 10, Talia Lewis, 10, George Pudihas, 9, Jacob Wasserleben, 8, Carson Krell, 8, and Michael Steigerwalt, 8, and Megan Ruch, 11.
