A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 2:19 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, along W. Adamsdale Road in Schuylkill Haven.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jarred A. Kleckner, 25, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound and negotiating a left curve in the road. As the vehicle entered the straight portion it was going at a unsafe speed, troopers said.
Kleckner lost control of the car as it went onto the south berm. He tried to regain control and turned hard left causing the vehicle to cross both lanes of travel and enter the north berm. The car traveled along the berm for about 93 feet before the tires made contact with the rocks.
The vehicle then rolled onto its roof and came to rest facing west. Kleckner, who sustained a minor injury, was found to be under the influence and submitted to field sobriety tests. He was then transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test.
The DUI charge is pending test results. He will be charged with driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed, troopers added.
