State police at Fern Ridge reported on assault arrests made by troopers.

Troopers said Ashley and Dillon Penny, of Effort, or facing simple assault charges for an incident that occurred about 10:23 p.m. on Jan. 9 at the Turkey Hill market located at SR209 and Gilbert Rd., in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers allege that the two suspects approached Aaron Murphy, of Sciota, as he was on a phone. Ashley Penny took the handset from Murphy and struck him several times with the handset and her fists. Dillon Murphy approached Murphy and from behind and struck him several times in the head with a blunt object.

Murphy suffered a laceration to the back of the head, troopers said. The two suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers. The investigation into the incident is continuing, troopers added.

Troopers said Manny Manuel Mahecha-Pizarro, 25, of Brodheadsville, is facing a charge of simple assault. Troopers said on Thursday, Feb. 16, about 12:30 p.m. he allegedly punched a 24-year-old female in the face during a verbal altercation. The incident occurred at 404C Lamplight Drive, in Chestnuthill Township, troopers said.
