The Tamaqua Area Student Government Association (TASGA), with support of Tamaqua Leadership Council, National Honor Society, World Language Club and other clubs held their first annual 10-hour dance marathon on Saturday called Tamaqua Dance Marathon 2012 in the gymnasium of the Tamaqua Area High School.
Proceeds from the event went to "Camp Can Do," a camp for pediatric cancer patients.
The theme of the event was "Kids Helping Kids." In addition to dancing, body painting, and a moonbound, visitors got to enjoy a large variety of homemade foods, snacks and refreshments.
TASGA President Emily Zancofsky, vice president Kelsey Patrick and TASGA advisor Steve Ulicny, stated their appreciation to all the sponsors, the Tamaqua Area School District, Margaret and Andrew Miller and all the volunteers that made the event a success.
They also stated their appreciations to the entertainment DJ's and bands, who provided their services free of charge. They were DJ RC from T102, DJ Aaron Bonner, DJ Brandon Fritz, Story of Another, A.D.D., Waking Up Dead, Subject 1, Shane McGeehan, and Olivia Morrison.
Persons may contact Stephen Ulicny, TASGA advisor at (570) 778-2374 to donate or for more information about next year's dance marathon.
Ulicny said, "This event was a great way to re-establish the connection between the school, American Cancer Society and the community."
