The Palmerton Area Library now has tax forms available for the public. Federal and state tax forms, booklets and envelopes are free. More obscure forms that need to be copied from the tax book are $.25 per page. Local tax forms are also available for a small fee. The public is invited to stop in during regular library hours to pick up their tax forms. The library is open: Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Palmerton Area Library is currently conducting their Annual Fund Drive. Flyers were included in mailings to all residents of Palmerton Borough, Bowmanstown Borough and Towamensing Township. Residents of Lower Towamensing Township may check on the township website or the library website at www.palmertonarealibrary.com for information about donating to the library. Extra flyers are also available at the library for future donations. The Annual Fund Drive is very important for the library since the library has suffered from a decrease in funding from the state library system. Over 46,000 people used the Palmerton Area Library in 2011. Local support is extremely important to keep the library open.
The library has scheduled another series of computer classes for the spring. The beginner class will cover computer basics, how to use the Internet, how to send, receive, save and print email, and how to use word processing on your computer. The intermediate classes will explore windows, help you to keep your computer safe by understanding web security, teach you how to create flyers, newsletters and spreadsheets. The digital camera class will teach you the basic operation of a digital camera, how to acquire photos from your camera or photo CD, how to save them on your computer and how to use special effects to improve poor photos. The classes will all be on Thursdays at the library beginning on April 12. Class size is limited so contact the library at 610-826-3424 as soon as possible if you are interested.
On Saturday, Feb. 11 the library will offer a rock painting class taught by Paula Zelienka. The theme will be snowmen and hearts. All ages are welcome to participate but you must call the library to register in advance.
The library is looking for photographers who would like to participate in the library's annual Photography Show which will be held in the library gallery on Sunday, April 29 from 2-4 p.m. There is no fee to enter photos in the show.
