Two Schuylkill County residents have been charged in connection with theft incidents. One of the suspects is in custody while the other is at-large.
State police at Frackville identified the two as Donald E. Funk, 23, and Mark Metrick, 28, both who last resided in Shenandoah.
Funk is charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and criminal mischief. On Wednesday Funk was arraigned by video on the charges by District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah. Funk is an inmate in the Columbia County prison on unrelated charges. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured. He remains in custody.
Metrick and Funk are both charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and criminal conspiracy to commit theft. Metrick's whereabouts is unknown and he is being actively sought by troopers.
Troopers allege that Funk tampered with a security camera located on the property of Moe's Auto Glass/Pet Brothers, located along the Gold Star Highway (SR924), in Mahanoy Township, on Aug. 31, 2011, about 3:35 a.m. The camera recorded Funk and another individual, alleged to be Metrick, on the property of Vito Rinaldi, located at 649 Gold Star Highway, and across from Moe's property.
During the time stated above, Funk and Metrick removed wheels, tires and various automotive parts from Rinaldi's. Surveillance images were obtained from Moe's which led to the arrests of the two.
Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Metrick is asked to call troopers at (570) 874-5300.
