Thorpe arrests

Jim Thorpe police reported on the following arrests made by officers.

On Friday, Jan. 6, about 9:50 p.m. officers were dispatched to Kemmerer's Park for a report of juveniles smashing bottles in the area. Upon arrival police observed Cody Queen, 18, of 1119 Center St., Jim Thorpe, and a 16-year-old male sitting at a picnic table.While speaking with Queen police observed a clear sandwich bag containing a green vegetable matter lying on the ground next to him.Queen admitted that the bag was his and that it contained marijuana. Queen was taken into custody and searched. Found on him was a digital scale and a cigar which he admitted was used to smoke marijuana.Queen and the juvenile were taken to the police station.The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents while Queen was charged wtih possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile has also been cited for disorderly conduct.Police have charged Judy Louise Shubeck, 38, of 110 School St., Jim Thorpe, with theft by deception and bad check for three separate incidents.The first incident occurred on Oct. 19, 2011, when it was reported that Shubeck wrote a check for $48 to the L.B. Morris PTA for a fundraiser item. The second incident occurred on Nov. 8, 2011, when it was reported she wrote a check for $20 to the Scholastic Books for a children's book. The third incident occurred on Dec. 10, 2011, when it was reported she wrote a check for $28 for a fundraiser benefitting the American Cancer Society.All checks were returned for insufficient funds, police said.
