Two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests have been reported by Jim Thorpe police.
Police said on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, about 2:03 p.m. police were dispatched to SR903 for a one vehicle crash along Kattner's Mountain.
On scene officers found a 2001 Nissan sedan resting on its roof in the middle of the road blocking both lanes. The driver was identified as Adam M. Sobas, 60, of 1988 Green St., Lehighton.
Sobas showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for DUI. He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test which revealed a .16BAC. He was charged with two counts of DUI and one count each of driving on the right side of the road, following too closely and careless driving.
On Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, about 1:52 a.m. officers were dispatched again to SR903 near the Jim Thorpe monument for a one vehicle crash. On scene the officers found a 2003 Ford Focus resting against a tree facing east off the northbound lane.
The driver was identified as Stephen W. Gallagher, 28, of 718 Timberline Drive, Lake Harmony. He showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest and transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test. The test result showed a .21BAC.
Gallagher was charged with two counts of DUI and one count of driving on roadways laned for traffic.
