The Tamaqua girls punched their ticket into the District 11 Class 3A playoffs and the Marian Fillies picked up a win in scholastic sports action last night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Pottsville

The Lady Raiders made the post-season with a 47-30 Schuylkill League Division 1 victory over Pottsville.

Maria Streisel scored a game-high 16 points to go along with seven assists and six rebounds. Kayla Hope added 14 points for the Lady Raiders (11-7).

For Pottsville, Taylor Eckley led the way with 10 points.

In the JV game, the Tide rolled to a 47-29 victory.

Nativity-Weatherly

In a low scoring Schuylkill League Division 3 contest, Nativity pulled out a 28-16 victory over Weatherly.

The Lady Wreckers drop to 4-14 on the year, as they were held to under 20 points for the third time this season.

Tracy Galada topped Weatherly with seven points, while Olivia Andrefski scored a game-high eight points to lead Nativity.

In the JV game, Nativity posted a 35-32 victory.

For the second time this season, Marian held Mahanoy Area to just 16 points, as the Fillies improved to 14-4 with a 57-16 Schuylkill League Division 3 victory over the Golden Bears.

Kaysi McLaughlin buried three three-pointers to lead Marian with 18 points, while Danielle Tristani tallied 12.

For Mahanoy Area, Katie Babinsky scored four points.

Marian also posted a 33-14 victory in the JV contest.

North Schuylkill outscored Panther Valley 26-5 in the second quarter to blow the game wide open, en route to a 61-28 Schuylkill Division 1 victory.

The loss drops Panther Valley to 9-9 on the season.

Dominique Reinoehl scored 12 points to pace North Schuylkill, while Caitlyn Deeter chipped in 10 of her own.

For Panther Valley, Abbey Whildin and Trayvonda Rice scored 12 points apiece in the loss.

In the JV game, North Schuylkill rolled to a 61-16 victory.

For the second time this season, Bangor halted a three-game Palmerton winning streak, as the Slaters posted a 55-43 Colonial League victory over the Lady Bombers.

Morgan McCollian led Bangor with 17 points, while Audrey Schiavone tacked on 16.

For Palmerton (11-8), Helsey Hay scored 14 points and Jade Farquhar added 12.

Palmerton posted a 49-41 victory in the JV contest.

Palmerton trailed by 10 points (37-27) with six minutes remaining but Bangor went on a 21-5 run to pull away for a 58-32 Colonial League victory.

Justin Ringland had a game-high 15 points for the Slaters (14-4, 12-1), while Mike Hartzell chipped in with 11 and Alex Colton added 10.

Tyler Svetik and Cody Geist both finished with seven points apiece to lead the Blue Bombers (2-16, 0-13).
