State police at the Lehighton barracks have reported the results of roving DUI patrols that were conducted Dec. 21 into Dec. 22.
Police said the patrols resulted in eight motorists being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. In addition, eight motorists were found to have been drinking but were released after successfully passing standardized field sobriety tests.
Police issued 57 citations during that period and one other motorist was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance.
The operation was conducted as part of the Pennsylvania State Police Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Driving, designed to reduce the number of drunk driving fatalities and injuries in the commonwealth.
