A husband and wife were both arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after incidents on Interstate 78 in Weisenberg Township on Dec. 14.
State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Vanessa Budhun, 35, of Emmaus, was driving a 2004 Mazda 3 westbound on the interstate at about 3:16 a.m. when it impacted a guardrail off the northern edge of the road. Police said the vehicle traveled off the exit ramp and came to rest adjacent to the ramp. Police said the woman displayed indicators of being under the influence. Charges will be filed upon receipt of blood test results, police said.
In a related report, police said Vijai Budhun, 31, of Breingsville, was also arrested for DUI. Police said at 3:30 a.m., about 14 minutes after Vanessa's crash, he was contacted as the operator of a vehicle transporting his wife to the scene of her hit-and-run crash.
