Notre Dame -Northwestern

Mike Williams scored a forfeit in the last bout of the Colonial League match to lift Notre Dame over the top for a 37-32 win over host Northwestern.

The Tigers built themselves as much as a 17-0 lead to start things off then rebounded to take a 32-21 lead with four matches to go. The Crusaders took advantage of bonus points and a Dennis Atiyeh pin to pull out the win.

The Tigers' Jarrett White (120), Mitchell Evans (160) and Mike Ortiz (170) all scored pins for wins. Quentin Bernhard added a tech fall at 113.

Palmerton put together a six-match win streak when Josh Evans opened up with a forfeit win and took a 30-0 lead before Palisades stormed back.

Jim Thorpe (1-1) jumped out early and never looked back to run away with a 51-35 victory over MMI Prep.

Nikki Ennis scored all 12 of her points on three-pointers in the first half to lead the Olympians. Rebecca Cressman hit double digits with 10 points.

The Preppers' Kristen Purcell led all scorers with a game-high 14 points. Rachel Stanziola hit double figures with 10.

Tamaqua posted a 45-30 win over Panther Valley.

The Blue Raiders' Zac Coleman had a game-high 16 points, while Cullen Murphy just missed double figures with nine.

Nate Miller led the Panthers with 14 points.

8th grade

Tamaqua's 8th grade basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season defeating Panther Valley, 33-12.

Dylan Woods and Al Verta each had six points to lead Tamaqua, while Anthony Maholick had six for the Panthers.
