Kidder manager resigns

At Thursday's Kidder Township Supervisors' meeting, the board announced that on Wednesday, township manager John Finnerty had resigned his position effective immediately.

The supervisors voted unanimously and without comment to accept Finnerty's resignation. The board appointed township secretary/treasurer Lisa Klem acting township manager through the end of 2012.When contacted this morning, Klem said Finnerty had resigned to accept another position.Under new business, Chairman Larry Polansky stated that the township had received letters from both Kidder and Lake Harmony fire companies requesting redistricting of the fire coverage areas within the township.Polansky asked that both companies be present at the September meeting to present their request to the supervisors."The redistricting is just to make it clear which fire company is in charge when the companies are called out into the field," explained Lake Harmony Fire Chief Ralph Lennon. "These changes are something that would not affect the people of Kidder; they would not even be aware there was a change."The township will begin enforcing the fire hydrant ordinance that went into effect a few years ago.According to Lennon there are still a number of hydrants that are not compliant with the existing regulations.Polansky assured Lennon that the township will be working with the fire companies to get this taken care of. The penalties for non-compliance are as high as $500 per day.The supervisors also agreed to begin advertising for snow removal bids.
