Sandstorm and Victorious Secret earned semifinal victories on Monday night to advance to the championship match of the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) summer volleyball league.


Defending league champion Valley Athletic Supply cruised to 25-11 victory in the first game, but Victorious Secret rallied by winning the next three games by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 to advance to Thursday night's championship match.

Chad Fritzinger had 19 service points, 10 aces and eight kills to lead Victorious Secret. Brittany Homcha added eight service points and five aces.

Sarah Paluck led Valley Athletic Supply with 32 service points, eight aces and 14 digs. Zack Lakitsky tallied 12 kills, Mike Taylor added six kills, and Paige Baddick dished off nine assists.


Top-seeded Sandstorm had its way with VBC Lehighton Tomahawks, en route to a 25-9, 25-16, 25-20 semifinal victory.

Kyle Nevenglosky had 12 service points, seven aces and seven kills to lead Sandstorm. Matt Stewart factored in with 10 kills. Rachel Krajcirik rattled off nine service points and nine assists, and Christa Mantz dished off seven assists.

Jackie Jordan had nine service points, including three aces, for VBC Lehighton Tomahawks.
