A Palmerton man, who has an extensive prior criminal record, was sentenced to a state prison term Monday in Carbon County court. He was one of several defendants who previously pleaded guilty to criminal charges who were sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Theft countGlennis Edward Park, 27, was sentenced to serve 16 to 36 months on a charge of theft. On a charge of receiving stolen property he was sentenced to serve 12 to 36 months in a state prison, but it runs concurrent to the first count.Park was arrested by Palmerton police for an incident on Aug. 17, 2011, when he took various jewelry, including rings, a necklace and earring from the home of Paula Kuntzman.Nanovic also ordered Park to get both a drug and alcohol (D&A) and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, obtain a General Education Diploma (GED), zero tolerance on D&A use, make total restitution of $5,490, and have no contact with any of his victims. He was given credit for 24 days spent in jail on the charges.Other casesOther defendants sentenced included:Jarred Ricky Lee West, 21, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve two to 18 months in the county prison on a charge of recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault. On a charge of flight to avoid apprehension, he was placed on probation for a year consecutive to the first count.West was charged for the recklessly endangering and assault counts for an incident on Oct. 5, 2010, in which David Liverpool was the victim. Lehighton police charged that West stabbed Liverpool during a dispute. Liverpool required hospitalization and treatment.The second count stemmed from an incident in Lehighton when sheriff deputies attempted to take him into custody on a warrant and he fled on foot. He surrendered to police the next day.Nanovic also ordered West to get both D&A and mental health evaluations, make restitution of $420, and given credit for two days spent in jail on the charges.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Sept. 13.Joseph Donald Koch, 37, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve six to 18 months in the county prison on a charge delivery of a controlled substance. He was arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office on March 18, 2011. He sold five percocet tablets to a confidential informant (CI) in Lehighton.He was also ordered to get a mental health evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and make restitution of $38.73. He was given credit for two days spent in jail on the charge.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Sept. 14 and was granted work release privileges.James Jaeger, 34, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. He was arrested on Dec. 5, 2011, by Mahoning Township police along SR443 following a accident. He refused a blood test.Nanovic also ordered he pay a fine of $2,500, get a D&A evaluation, make total restitution for damages caused in the crash of $12,464.22, and license suspended for a year. On a summary offense he was fined $50 and costs.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Sept. 14.John W. Neville, 53, of Albrightsville, was placed on probation for 18 months on a charge of retail theft. He was arrested by Jim Thorpe police on April 19, 2011, at the Jim Thorpe Market. He took items valued at $6.99.He as also ordered to get a mental health evaluation, make restitution of $6.99, and not be on the property of the market.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
