State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a four-vehicle, rear-end type crash along a Schuylkill County road.
It was one of three crashes, including a hit and run, investigated by troopers.
Troopers said the four-vehicle crash occurred about 8:41 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, along SR61 at the intersection with Saint Clair Avenue, in East Norwegian Township, at the entrance to the Fairlane Village Mall. Troopers said Bonnie E. Stripe, 59, of Schuylkill Haven, driving a 2001 Mitsubishi, Allan Achenbach, 50, of Frackville, driving a 1996 Oldsmobile, and Clifford Cross Jr., 61, of Covington, Lackawanna County, driving a 2004 Dodge Ram truck, were all stopped in the right northbound lane for a red light.
Mark A. Miller, 37, of Nanticoke, Luzerne County, driving a 1999 Isuzu box truck, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of Stripe's vehicle pushing it into Achenbach's, which in turn struck the rear of Cross's vehicle.
Stripe was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Jackson St., Pottsville. No one else was reported injured.
Troopers cited Miller for following too closely.
A one-vehicle crash was reported about 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, along SR443 in West Brunswick Township.
Troopers said Matthew J. Naydock, 19, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 2004 Ford F250 truck westbound when, due to a medical condition, he blacked out. The truck crossed the eastbound lane and onto the berm where it traveled about 60-feet before striking a utility pole and shearing it off.
After impact with the pole the truck continued another 90-feet into a corn field before coming to final rest.
Naydock, who woke up when the vehicle came to a stop, was not injured. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
A hit and run accident was reported about 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, along Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Michael C. Sherer, 42, of Pottsville, was northbound while another vehicle was in the southbound lane and backing into a parking spot across the northbound lane. Sherer saw the other vehicle and attempted to slow down. The backing vehicle struck the passenger side mirror on Sherer's vehicle.
After impact the other driver fled the scene. Sherer was not injured.
